Overclocker Cafe – OCZ EL DDR PC4000 Gold Edition 2GB Kit. I got this memory mainly because I just couldn’t see paying $400 for the higher end Platinum. Also, there was a $23 rebate from newegg.com, so couldn’t resist a $200 2GB kit. It won’t go as fast, but let’s a least make it go as fast as possible.

bq. OCZ Technology has chosen some very nice Samsung chips to be the heart of their PC4000 (DDR500) package. The K4H510838C-UCCC chip’s full data dump is available here at the Samsung website. These chips are actually designed to run DDR400 at CAS 3, tRCD 3, tRP 3 settings. By loosening up the timings, OCZ is able to offer their unit at DDR500. I’d say they are fairly confident in their product because it comes with a lifetime warranty that is valid even with the memory being over volted up to VDIMM of 3V Âą 5%

As UCCC chips, they are different from the Infineon CE-6 chips used in the OCZ PC4000 Platinum EB, so will overclock differently. These can run stably at 3-3-2-8 up to 270MHz FSB. They didn’t get much overclock above 250MHz FSB, in fact got to just 254MHz when running at the default 3-4-4-8 1T timing at 2.8V.

“Insanetek”:http://www.insanetek.com/review.php?id=221 found that the actually date code of the memory makes a difference. With the date code of 528, he got to timings of 225MHz at 2.5-3-3-7 1T 2.8V, 230MHz at 2.5-4-3-7 1T at 2.8V. Maximum was 265MHz at 3-4-3-8 at 1T 2.8V. So that is quite a bit better probably because of the later chip date

“PCStats.com”:http://www.pcstats.com/artvnl.cfm?articleID=1854 found the same thing, with 2.5-3-3-6 timings, they only got to 212MHz FSB at 2.8V and with the default 3-4-4-8 timings, they got to just 253MHz at 2.8V.

They also have BTW, a good list of fast “overclocking”:http://www.pcstats.com/ArtVNL.cfm?articleid=1854&page=7 with not surprisingly the OCZ PC4000 Gold DC VX at 2-2-2-4 running at 263MHz FSB (wow!).
