OK, I’ve been doing a lot of HDR work and it’s been mysterious how to set OBS to do this properly. I tried to do one and the colors were way off, but looking at Reddit, you get to the OBS notes and it says that is it. using the latest Screen Capture Kit from Appl,e and the precise setting you need are:
Settings > Advanced > Video
Color Format: P010 (10-bit, 4:2:0, 2 planes)
Color Space: Rec. 2100(PC)
Color Range: Full
SDR White Level: 300 nits
HDR Nominal Peak Level: 1000 nits
Anyway, when displaying on an LG B9 HDR display it looks decent. Looking at Final Cut Pro, it shows the screen shots from Brave Browser are about 400 nits, so quite a bit above the SDR levels.
Then you have to make sure the output is correct as well, because you need to use the HEVC Encoder
Settings > Output > Recording
Video Encoder: Hardware(Apple, HEVC)
Audio Encoder: AAC(Default)
I do think one issue is what happens on an SDR display so will try that next.
