It is actually harder than you think with these smart devices to make things work exactly the way you want. Someday, it will be as easy as “Always display the time when I walk by my Next thermostat”

But in the meantime, you need to know how to use Farsight with the Nest 3rd Generation and later, and do this:

1. Spin the outer dial until you get to the gear icon and press down
2. Then you go to Farsight, and the manuals are confusing, you basically scroll down to “Date and Time” and then press on it. Then the confusing thing is that you do not scroll down to “Don’t use Farsight”, because this actually deactivates.
